Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club, Castlegregory Ireland Highlights
In the glorious southwest of Ireland, likely the greatest golfing region on earth in terms of challenge and unparalleled beauty, the masses have justifiably beat trails to virtually all of the courses throughout County Kerry, making the possibility of coming home with a true “discovery” unlikely indeed. It is in this context then that we are almost hesitant to promote the links at magnificent Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club, an unbelievable find on the north coast of the Dingle Peninsula, surprisingly convenient to Tralee town and Killarney. However, justice dictates that we give this little gem at Castlegregory its due. What you have here is a 9-hole treasure! Incredibly scenic, Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club starts off with a superb par-5 in the downland, along the coast of a stunningly beautiful lake, its swan population impossible to count! From here you turn into some wonderfully natural dunes, with Castlegregory’s next 8 holes offering fantastic links golf, and the rare opportunity for some peace and solitude in this region, for a fraction of the cost of the other area courses. The sea comes into view on the 6th tee at Castlegregory, where you can stare down the coast of Dingle, or turn your eyes the other way and view the course in its full splendor. You will be the only overseas visitors that day at Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club, a club so friendly and unpretentious that they are satisfied with a small trailer for a clubhouse, and recently turned down millions for their course. Get there quick though, for it is only a matter of time before the offer triples, the adjacent dunes are developed into a second nine, and Castlegregory Golf and Fishing Club loses that special innocence she now possesses!
