The Duke’s Course, St. Andrews Scotland
The Duke’s Course, St. Andrews Scotland Highlights
Just outside of St. Andrews, high in the hills with glorious views of the old town and the North Sea, is the Peter Thomson-designed Duke’s Course, owned by the Old Course Hotel. The Duke’s Course is a nice combination of parkland golf with some Scottish-style undulations and bunkering, with tall fescue. 5-time Open Champion Thompson made wonderful use of the huge elevation changes offered at the Duke’s Course, with fantastic downhill tee-shots and some old-fashioned uphill climbs to contend with as well. Winding around the grounds of the friendly and popular Craigtoun Country Park, The Duke’s Course is a terrific change of pace from the linksland. The traditional clubhouse at The Duke’s Course boasts spectacular views of St. Andrews and, perhaps more importantly a great bar! The Duke’s Course clubhouse is perfect for a lunch before or after the round, or for a visit on its own! It is definitely worth a stop during your visit to St. Andrews in Scotland.
