 PRINCE'S GOLF CLUB |
|---|
 | Only one golf course in Britain has hosted the Open Championship just a single, solitary time, the Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, next-door neighbor to current Open venue Royal St. George’s. But what a championship it was that year in 1932, won by the great and beloved Gene Sarazen, one of the most popular Open victories of the early 20th century, and one that sealed Prince’s in the hearts of fans of the late, great Squire. The old original layout was destroyed in World War II, having been an ideal landscape and location for wartime exercises, but the old clubhouse from those days still stands out by Royal St. George’s 14th tee. Following the war, Prince’s was thankfully resurrected as a 27-hole layout, with three distinctive nines, the Dunes, Shore, and Himalayas, and the new clubhouse located conveniently at the center of the three. We recommend playing them all! Then, head into the medieval village of Sandwich, famed for its many traditional and atmospheric pubs! | |
