Northwest England Golf Packages
Northwest England Highlights
The town of Southport in Northwest England is the base for one of the greatest golfing regions in the entire British Isles. Southport England golf vacation packages first and foremost include a “Royal family” of Open Championship venues that incredibly are not “automatically next” on the golf vacation schedule for groups returning home from a tour of Scotland’s open venues! Southport England is home to Royal Birkdale which is al-ways a favorite of the pros and a favorite inclusion on any Southport and Northwest England golf package tour. 45 minutes north of Southport on Northwest England’s Lacashire Coast is England’s “Old Course” in our opinion, Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s Golf Club, a course nearly unrivaled for old-fashioned yet still-championship links golf. Just an hour or so the other way from Southport is another of England’s greatest Open Championship tests, Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake. Many golfers are surprised that they actually don’t need a car on a golf tour to Northwest England because both Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s and Royal Liverpool can actually be reached by train. What is even more surprising though to golfers on tour in Northwest England is that the lines in both directions from Southport go right past an array of traditional local golf clubs, each with historic and fascinating links courses themselves that along with the “Royal” venues make a golf package vacation to Southport and Northwest England one of the most memorable a golfer could experience. Formby, Hillside, Southport and Ain-sale, West Lancashire, St. Anne’s Old Links, Wallasey…the names should roll off the tongue and in fact they do for anyone who has experienced a golf vacation in the Southport region of Northwest England. Those really on the lookout for amazing golf might want to also check out the truly hidden venues of the Northwest England golf region—The Alwoodley for example in Leeds where Alister Mackenzie got his start! Silloth-on-Solway which is almost halfway to Turnberry but can fit perfectly into a trip combining Ayrshire Scotland and Southport England. And most memorably of all, Castletown Links on the mysterious Isle of Man, which is actually not in England at all but still part of the UK and easily reachable either by flight or ferry from Liverpool. One of our missions at Hidden Links is to make a Southport and Northwest England golf pack-age vacation as much of a “must” as a comparable one to Scotland, with Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s, and Royal Liverpool at Hoylake—three of the greatest of the Open Championship venues, as the trophies!
