The 155th Open at St. Andrews

The Open Comes Home
The 155th Open will be played on the Old Course at St. Andrews from July 15–18, 2027. Hidden Links®, an Authorised Provider of guaranteed Old Course tee times, designs custom golf trips around Open week that pair the championship with rounds at Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, Elie and other great Scottish links, or with a wider tour of Scotland and Ireland.
Every few years, the oldest championship in golf returns to where it all began, and golfers from every corner of the world make the pilgrimage to the “Auld Grey Toon.” In July 2027 the grandstands rise once more around the 18th green, the Swilcan Bridge waits for its next champion, and the whole town hums with the game.
Picture it: mornings at Kingsbarns and Carnoustie, plus Hidden Gems like Elie and Crail, afternoons following the leaders down the closing holes at St. Andrews, and evenings by a roaring fire with a pint and a dram, swapping stories from the day. That’s Open week, The Golf Tour of Your Imagination™.
Sir Nick Faldo & St. Andrews
In 1990, Sir Nick Faldo lifted the Claret Jug on the Old Course, the second of his three Open Championships. Since 2022, Sir Nick has been the global brand ambassador for Hidden Links. Hear him share his favorite memories of St. Andrews and the great Open venues.
Build Your Open Week
No two Hidden Links tours are alike. Here are three ways to imagine your Open week. Your Tour Fitting℠ will shape the rest around your dates, your group and the days you want at the championship.

The Kingdom of Fife & The Open
Stay close to the “Auld Grey Toon” and play the links on its doorstep between days at the championship: Kingsbarns, Crail Balcomie, Lundin, Dumbarnie, and Elie, the Hidden Gem where our President, Iain McLean, grew up playing the game.

The Championship Trail & The Open
Pair Open week with more of Scotland’s championship links: Carnoustie across the Tay and Muirfield in East Lothian (visitor days permitting), with North Berwick and Gleneagles close at hand.

Two Islands & The Open
Spend the championship in St. Andrews, then cross the Irish Sea to Royal County Down and Royal Portrush, planned with Michelle McGreevy and our team in Ireland.

Playing The Old Course in an Open Year
The Old Course closes to visitors for a period before and after The Open while it is prepared for, and restored after, the championship. As an Authorised Provider, Hidden Links will advise on the best window for your round and schedule your guaranteed Old Course tee time where it fits your trip, or as part of a separate visit to the Home of Golf.
The Open 2027: Your Questions Answered
When is The Open in 2027?
The 155th Open will be played on the Old Course at St. Andrews from July 15–18, 2027, with practice days earlier that week.
Can I play the Old Course during Open week?
Not during the championship itself. The Old Course closes to visitors for a period before and after The Open. As an Authorised Provider, we’ll advise on the best window and schedule your guaranteed Old Course tee time where it fits your trip.
What other courses can we play around The Open?
In the Kingdom of Fife, Kingsbarns, Crail Balcomie, Elie, Lundin and Dumbarnie are all within easy reach of St. Andrews. Carnoustie lies just across the Tay, and North Berwick and Muirfield (visitor days permitting) are in East Lothian.
Can we combine The Open with a trip to Ireland?
Yes. Many golfers spend the championship in St. Andrews, then travel on to Royal County Down and Royal Portrush, or head to Southwest Ireland instead to play Lahinch, Tralee and the area’s other great links.
How far ahead should we book an Open year trip?
We recommend 12 months or more. Hotels and tee times around St. Andrews fill early in an Open year, especially for larger groups.
Will someone be there if something goes wrong?
Always. Our team in Scotland and Ireland is there throughout your trip if anything unexpected comes up.
Your Open Week Awaits
When you’re ready, our exclusive Tour Fitting℠ form is the first step toward an Open week you’ll remember forever.
