La Quinta

La Quinta Highlights

Situated just five minutes inland from the fashionable marina of Puerto Banús, La Quinta Golf & Country Club opened in 1989 as an 18-hole course and has since evolved into a 27-hole golf complex through the addition of a third nine and the refinement of several original holes.

Designed by Spanish Ryder Cup players Manuel Piñero and Antonio Garrido, La Quinta is widely regarded as one of the Costa del Sol’s most enjoyable and playable venues—comfortable for holiday golfers yet challenging enough for seasoned players, with conditioning and green speeds that rival many championship resorts.

Set within Benahavís’ famed “Golf Valley,” the course enjoys sweeping Mediterranean and mountain views. Each of the three nine-hole loops offers a distinct character across gently undulating terrain framed in parts by upscale residential surroundings.

San Pedro (A Course) is the most open of the loops, stretching 2,884 metres (par 35) with generous fairways that invite confident driving. Ronda (B Course), at 2,718 metres, is tighter and more technical, placing emphasis on accuracy and deft work around the greens.

The championship combination pairs San Pedro with Guadaiza (C Course)—the longest nine at 3,058 metres (par 36). With dramatic elevation changes and a series of memorable doglegs, Guadaiza provides the strongest test and served as the closing stretch when La Quinta hosted the Benahavís Senior Masters (2009–2012)—a fitting stage for a layout that continues to be a favourite on the Costa del Sol circuit.
