The “Un”-Beaten Path – Golf in Northwest Ireland

Highlights

There is no questioning the quality of the courses on Ireland’s beaten path, and more and more people seem to visit each year. Nearly all head straight to either Ballybunion or Royal County Down and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that! But where should one go to play some golf with the locals and experience the solitude and sanctuary that all golfers’ souls eventually long for? Well, it is often said that the farther you get from Dublin, while still remaining on the Emerald Isle, the greater the welcome! So, if that’s the case, the answer is to head north from Shannon and play the amazing courses of Northwest Ireland instead. You will discover a region whose courses are as spectacular as any in Ireland or the entire British Isles for that matter, perhaps even more so, with a welcome to match! It is not often one gets the chance to be the first to visit and entire region of incredible golf courses, and get to go home with the spoils-the ability to be “1-up” on everyone else you know. Northwest Ireland is true unchartered territory, in golf it is “The Un-Beaten Path (TM)”. Make sure you get there while it can still be described that way!
