The Long and Winding Road – Machrihanish to Ayrshire

Highlights

The Long and Winding Road (TM) is that ringing a bell? A phrase you’ve heard before, are vaguely familiar with, but can’t quite place? Wait a minute yes that’s Paul McCartney’s famous song and it was inspired by the actual road linking Glasgow with Campbeltown at the tip of the Kintyre Peninsula, a place where he chose for his Scottish estate! And what a wise choice it was and still is especially for golfers, as this long, winding road takes you to a resort that just might be the Scotland of your most vivid imagination-Machrihanish. A stay at the Machrihanish Dunes resort is one to be remembered forever and while here take advantage of the wonderful ferry service to visit the Isle of Islay as well, famous for its peaty malts and a course equally stimulating to the senses, The Machrie! Wind your way back to Ayrshire for the famous stretch of links courses that too often are not fully enjoyed together due to the usual hurry to get over to St. Andrews. But have you already been to St. Andrews? Do you want to visit Scotland once every couple of years rather than just once in a lifetime? Are you visiting in September when the Old Course is closed most of the month? If so, then check this particular tour out. The Long and Winding Road (TM) might just be for you!
