Duke's Course St. Andrews, Old Course Hotel, St. Andrews, Scotland

Just outside of St. Andrews, high in the hills with glorious views of the old town and the North Sea, is the Peter Thomson-designed Duke's Course, owned by the Old Course Hotel, and a nice combination of parkland golf with some Scottish-style undulations and tall fescue. The 5-time Open Champion made wonderful use of the huge elevation changes, with fantastic downhill tee-shots and some old-fashioned uphill climbs to contend with as well. Winding around the grounds of the friendly and popular Craigtoun Country Park, it is a terrific change of pace from the linksland. The traditional clubhouse boasts spectacular views and a great bar, perfect for a lunch before or after the round, or for a visit on its own!
