Not unlike renowned Muirfield in Scotland, it presents its layout in a challenging yet eminently fair and straightforward manner, each hazard laid out before you, with few surprises lurking. The course is a perfect compliment to the more difficult walks encountered at Ballybunion and Tralee, a different style of equally challenging golf. Bow your head at The Mass Hole, the par-3 12th, where the local Catholics risked execution by celebrating Mass in secret in the hollow short of the green, and genuflect on Mulcahy’s Peak, the 17th tee, Jack’s favorite spot on the links, and enjoy the 360-degree view.
