GOLF IN BAJA--WHERE THE DESERT MEETS THE SEA |
|---|
 | The sight of the desert meeting the sea is one of the world’s most unique, and perhaps the greatest example of this is the tip of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico, where the cacti flourish just steps from the crashing surf, and home of a string of spectacular golf courses stretching from San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas. The most famous of these is Jack Nicklaus’ Cabo del Sol, featuring no less than 6 holes right on the ocean, one of the best pieces of golfing property in the world. Nearby, Nicklaus has recently opened El Dorado, perhaps an even more spectacular gem where the contrast between desert, green grass, and sea is highlighted even more. Palmilla has 27 spectacular holes, and Fazio, Rees Jones, and Weiskopf have also weighed in with their own superb courses, adding to the allure of this area. Cabo San Lucas may be the most lively 19th hole on Earth, and the luxury accommodations of Cabo Real, Cabo San Lucas, the Westin, and Cabo del Sol only add to the attraction of this spectacular coast! | |
