OREGON GOLF--BANDON DUNES AND PACIFIC DUNES
There exists in America a remote, hard-to-reach destination that will have you swearing you have crossed oceans to visit. This is on the rugged southern coast of Oregon, at Bandon Dunes, and neighboring Pacific Dunes, two new courses that come closer to emulating a true Scottish links than any other on earth, in fact they indeed are authentic, with everything from the sandy turf, fescue grass, and gorse lining the fairways. The courses play high above the sea, making for the type of experience where you instantly remember every single hole upon first glance, so rare in golf. You won’t want to play them just once though, we recommend staying a few days and going around 2 and 3 times each! The accommodations are as good as the golf, and offer an opportunity to have the same experience as visiting the British Isles, if not even better, without leaving the United States. As they like to say, the soul of the game resides here, where players walk, as it was meant to be. Just have a look at the photos, they say it all! If you have a little more time, play Pumpkin Ridge before driving out to the coast, the place where Tiger Woods clinched his third straight US Amateur Championship, and a future US Open host!
